"Dr Sushil Kumar Kabra MD DNB is working as Professor of Pediatrics and in charge Pediatric Pulmonology Division at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India since 1992. He is recipient of British Pediatric Associations Heinz Fellowship in 1992. His research interests include cystic fibrosis and other chronic lung diseases. His team generated data on cystic fibrosis in Indian children. Research papers published by his team describe clinical manifestations and genetic profile of CF in Indian children and highlights specific differences from Caucasian population. He started cystic fibrosis services at AIIMS, New Delhi (India) by collaborating with Cystic Fibrosis Unit of Southampton General Hospital. The services developed at AIIMS use indigenously developed method of sweat collection and estimation and provides a model for care of CF patients in resource limited setting. Dr Kabra is involved in research on various aspects of acute respiratory tract infections including etiology, risk factors, diagnosis, factors affecting outcome, role of short course of antibiotics and zinc as adjunct treatment for pneumonia in children. Dr Kabra is involved in developing training material. He has developed modules case based interactive teaching modules for Childhood tuberculosis, Pediatric Pulmonology grand rounds, Reading chest X ray and Pediatric HIV infection. He is editor of multi author books on Pediatric Pulmonology, Childhood Tuberculosis and Protocols for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Dr Kabra's team provide services for all complex respiratory problems including bronchoscopy, a state of art pulmonary physiology laboratory services in form of spirometry, exhaled NO estimation in infants and children, advanced pulmonary function testing in infants and impulse oscilometry for children."
