- Try to break a big task or project into smaller chunks – If you have a big project to work on, try to divide it into smaller pieces. Studies have reported that our brain works hard to process large amounts of data or information. A big task can also overwhelm and you may worry if you’d be able to do it on time. But if you split it, you may find it easier to work and you can also take breaks in between.
- Wear headphones – For some people, listening to music while working helps them focus better. Music is known to have a calming effect and that can help boost productivity; it can also lift your mood. But the kind of music that you choose also has an important role to play in this.
- Sleep well – This is one of the most important things that has an impact on your ability to focus. 6-8 hours of sleep is recommended for proper functioning of the body. Sleeping less than the optimal amount may make you feel fatigued and lethargic the next day thus affecting your productivity.
- Limit the distractions – Set aside a specific time to check your mail or reply to messages. The constant availability of internet can lead to distraction and it will make you lose focus on the work at hand.
- Take breaks – It is important to take breaks in between so that you can relax, meditate or just do some deep breathing exercises. This will help you stay focused and will improve your concentration levels.
- Learn to delegate – You don’t have to do everything yourself and you should know when is the right time to delegate. There may be certain things that you aren’t good at. You should focus on your strengths and delegate the other work accordingly.
