Shreya got into an unhealthy sleeping pattern; one that started out as a weekend of fun, and ended up turning into a mild case of insomnia. At first she didn’t mind so much. It was fun to stay up late watching movies, and browsing the internet. Sometimes she even managed to get a lot done at night, especially where her writing was concerned. She found the night time to be a quiet time, where she could spend time in her own space, and her own mind. Besides, she didn’t feel too tired at first.
After a week or so her bed time crept further into the night. At first it was midnight. Then 1am. Before she knew it she was going to bed at 3.30am and getting up for work at 7.30am.
Fatigue gently began to set it. It hit her as if out of nowhere, but in actual fact it had been building below the surface for weeks. She felt tired and grumpy all of a sudden. Her mental clarity deteriorated, and she quickly found that she was struggling to get anything done at work, or around the house, let alone in her personal life. She had little energy for her partner any more, and her sex life also took a nosedive.
As if that were not bad enough, Shreya’s health started to deteriorate. The lack of sleep had started to effect her immune system, which was now having trouble fighting off illness. Her stress hormone levels also rose dramatically, causing her to become physically and emotionally tense. Trouble was easily brewing for her at work, where her work level had suffered.
Shreya began to get a little more sleep, but found that she struggled to quickly regain control of her spiraling sleeping habits. Soon after she began to show signs of hypertension, and noticed the irregularity of her heart beat that she decided to contact health experts for help.
Sleep Early, Rise Early
Shreya now enjoys the benefits of a healthy sleeping pattern. She has plenty of sleep that helps her to keep her mind and body fresh. Rising early also gives her time to eat a healthy breakfast before she goes to work, and to take some exercise. Overall her life has improved dramatically as a result of sleeping early, and sleeping plenty. The sunrise she enjoys in the morning is just an added bonus.
